      The Noritsu scanner offers an option to scan 120 film "wide". This allows us to scan beyond the frame and offer an uncropped image. Usually there will be a thin black border on 3 sides, sometimes 4. This does NOT include a scan of the rebate area.

    • Film Border *

      This option allows us to scan the entire negative up to the sprocket holes (but does NOT include the sprockets). This results in an uncropped frame and gives a unique border around the entire image. Frontier Scanner Only (Normal & Large).

    • Film Border *

    • TIFF Upgrade *

      JPG is our default file type. High quality images for general use, but can show artifacts or pixelation with significant editing or large prints. TIFF offers extremely high quality; no degradation over multiple edits, retaining original details. This is ideal for extensive post-processing.

    • Push *

      Pushing film means intentionally rating film at a higher ISO (e.g., shooting ISO 400 film at ISO 800) and then developing it longer to compensate.

    • Panoramic *

      Specify if this film was shot in an XPan or Widelux camera, or if it was in a 120 camera with a 35mm adapter.

    • Panoramic *

    • Special Handling * $6.00

      Souped film is a creative and experimental technique that involves soaking film in various liquids to create unique and unconventional images.

      Environmental Damage includes water-damaged rolls or other contamination.

      Contact sheets are created from the digital files.
      Digital versions are sent as a JPG with your scans.

    Premium vs Basic vs Auto Scans: Which is best for me?

    C-41 Premium Scans

    • In-scanner adjustments AND post-processing corrections (color grading, exposure, cropping and contrast edits)
    • Fully edited images delivered that are ready for you or your client
    • Custom color profiles (good if you have a brand and want consistent coloring that matches your style)

    C-41 Basic Scans –

    • In-scanner adjustments only (no additional post-processing corrections will only be made)
    • Full control of the editing process (good for photographers who like to edit their own photos)

    C-41 Auto Scans – Automatically includes a quicker turnaround time (2-3 business days) without the need to pay for a rush order.

    Includes auto-scanner adjustments only (no custom color profiles or manual color correction).  The negative is fed into the scanner and each frame is auto-corrected by the scanner using built-in color and density algorithms.  This scan service is ideal for a photographer who is confident that the film has been metered correctly and the exposures are very consistent.  This is also a great service for a beginner photographer who is just starting out and wants to evaluate different film stocks.  Additional editing such as cropping, color, toning, and density may be needed to achieve a finished product.   All of these differences are corrected in Premium Scans but are left as-is for Auto Scans.
